Hello Parents and Students!

Welcome to Week 8 at Ashton Ranch and Week 6 at Kingswood with Sensei Sean Milligan! Below will be a lot of information on how to check-in every week. Whether you are paying every week, Prepaid, or Paid in Full, all parents must check-in students each week online and in-person onsite. ALL IMPORTANT AND IMMEDIATE CLASS INFORMATION WILL BE AT THE TOP UNDER IMPORTANT NOTICES. The bottom of this email includes links to purchase uniforms (gi) and other equipment and ActivStars Promos.

IMPORTANT NOTICES

CHILDREN THAT ARE NOT IN THE KARATE PROGRAM ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE CLASS
ONLY WATER BOTTLES ARE ALLOWED IN THE GYM
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE NO SPECTATORS/PARENT HELPERS FOR TESTING DAY. TESTING WILL BE DONE DURING YOUR CHILD'S CLASS TIME.

KARATE/MARTIAL ARTS BELT TESTING INFORMATION

TESTING FEE: $12 per student + regular class fee
Note: The “testing fee” is paid for through the APP as well, please check on the “testing” fee button to pay the $12
testing fee the day of testing.

IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION

1. Testing will be held at your regular class times – we try to stay within each class's time frame, however with large
classes we may run a few minutes over, we appreciate your patience if this does occur.
2. Perfect attendance is required before testing. Students will be allowed to test if they have 1 or 2 absences, if the
absences are paid and the “make-up” classes are attended before the semester ends. Students with 3 or more
absences will not be allowed to test this session but should still plan on attending class. Speak to your instructor or
class assistant for more information on make-ups. Make-ups cannot be done on testing night due to time constraints.
3. All students are required to attend class on testing day; however, they are NOT required to test. Students who do
not want to test, will participate in a practice test.
4. The fee for testing is $12.00 plus the regular class fee. If you have prepaid the entire semester you will be charged
$12.00 for testing. On testing night, students will individually check in with the class assistant or instructor.
5. Belts are NOT sold; they are earned by students! Belts are free to students when they pass the test.
6. Spectators are not allowed to watch during testing. The students are nervous enough without an audience.
Furthermore, we need a quiet atmosphere for the testing. We appreciate your understanding and support!
7. Testing day/night may run a little longer than a normal class, we appreciate your patience!
8. Students are always encouraged to practice outside of class, but if they have attended class regularly, they should be
adequately prepared for the testing!
9. Do not call the office or the instructor to see if a student passed. Certificates and awards will be presented on Awards
Night. Information on the ceremony will be provided the day of testing.
Remember that ALL students having perfect attendance will receive a certificate.
10. Students are increasing in rank exactly as they should be if they advance one rank at a time. Some students will skip
ranks if the instructor thinks that they are ready.

SPECIALS - 30 minutes ($3.00)

Sensei Sean would like to invite all green belts and above OR students who are 8 years old and above to join our Specials Class. For the summer we will be learning Staff. Specials are available at Ashton Ranch from 7:30 pm - 8:00 pm and at Kingswood from 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm.

A Staff can be purchased from ActivStars, the links are at the bottom of this email.
You may purchase a 1" or 1.25" diameter dowel rod from Lowe's or Home Depot to use as a Staff. The Staff should be about the same height as the student or a little shorter. I am 5'3" so I use a 5' Staff.
Sensei Sean has a limited number of Staffs to lend out for the class.
Specials can also be used as a make-up class by paying the regular class fee of $9 or $10, depending on which class your child is in.

PRIOR TO CLASS (ONLINE)

Please be sure to CHECK-IN ONLINE using the same username and password you used to register for class. At this point you will either be paying for class or just checking-in (Paid in Full/Prepaid Students). If your student is staying for sparring/specials, please be sure to pay the $3.00 upon check-in.
***Students not checked-in ONLINE will be counted as Absent (Paid in Full or Prepaid) or Not Paid (Weekly Pay Students) even if they show up for class in person.***

AT LOCATION (ONSITE)

All Students, Parents/Guardians, and guests STAYING for class will be temperature checked.
VERY IMPORTANT! Please check in with the Parent Secretary upon arrival. This is to ensure that students are accounted for correctly. ***Students not checked-in in PERSON as well as ONLINE will be marked as Absent or Not Paid.***
ABSENCES: Absences must be made up prior to the testing date for each location. All students must have perfect attendance prior to testing. Absences can be made up by doing the following:

Come to an earlier class from the student's regular class.
Stay for an extra class.
Use Specials or Sparring (Green Belt and above) class as a make-up at the student's regular class price of $9.00 or $10.00
Go to another location for class. Email/text me to find out more information.

If a Parent/Guardian would like to stay for class, you may do so by signing a yellow form stating that you are a Parent Helper. Parent Helpers should be able to assist the instructor during class. The yellow sign sheet is asking for the parent/guardian information, such as Date Of Birth, not the student's.

Parents/Guardians staying in the class must be able to assist when Sensei Sean asks for Volunteers.

Children that are NOT in the karate program are NOT ALLOWED in the gym during class. However, they are more than welcome to stay in the hallway with a Parent/Guardian.
Students that are Not Paid for 3 weeks in a row will be prohibited from attending class until the balance has been paid.
Please help us with keeping the location clean. Do not throw tissues or paper towels on the floor. Please do not make a mess in the bathrooms. We would appreciate your assistance with this.
