Welcome to the Summer Semester with Sensei Sean Milligan! There will be a calendar going out after the first day. Please note that times are subject to change depending on the number of students, and belt ranks in each class. Check out a word from Sensei Sean in the attached video!

Please read this weekly for any last minute schedule changes, added classes, and other upcoming important events.

BEFORE COMING TO CLASS

 *Parents please be sure to check-in online prior to coming to class

  **You will not need to do this for the first class, as students are automatically checked-in when you register

 *Parents please check-in with the class secretaries upon arrival. If they are not checked-in in person, then they will be marked absent.

  **This is to ensure proper attendance for each student

 *Students please bow before entering the dojo (gym/cafeteria)

 *Students please take off shoes or wear karate shoes

  **Shoes can be placed in a designated area provided by the instructor

Below, you'll see some sparring equipment in our lists. This is an advanced option for our students and all equipment is designed to keep everyone safe. Students learning self-defense techniques are supported and monitored throughout the lessons.

Sparring is open to students ranked green and above. It is mandatory for ranks purple and above. For students to participate in sparring, they must have the following:

• Hand Pads

• Foot Pads

• Mouth Piece

Cup & Support (males)

Purple Rank & Above: Headgear and Body Armor

Orange Rank & Above: Full-face Headgear and Body Armor

This is just a reminder of the schedule for this week. There is a time for Class and a time for Ceremony. There will be no spectators or Parent Helpers for class(es). Ceremony is when all family and friends are welcome to attend and watch student demonstrations.

Below is the schedule for the Awards Ceremony for each location. Please note the time change for Kingswood.

Please check your email for the class time your child is in, or go to our Private Facebook Page (see link below). I have tried to keep siblings in the same time slot, however, if they are not please let me know which time slot would work best for you and your family. Also, if the time slot your child is in does not work for you and your family, please let me know, and I will be more than happy to move your child. Due to space limitations at Ashton Ranch please try to keep the Spectators to immediate family only, if possible.

 *Parents that would like to stay for class may sign the yellow Parent Helper sheet - please read the guidelines below

  *Students BOW before entering the gym/cafeteria

  *Students will take off shoes if they do not have karate shoes, the instructor will let students know where to place their shoes

 ~ IMPORTANT NOTICE ~ PLEASE READ THIS PORTION WEEKLY!!! ~ 

ABSENCES : Parents be sure to check the Absenteeism Report at your class location to verify if your child/children have any absences. It will list the number of absences your child will need to make-up, and which weeks are missing. If there are more than 4 absences it will not list the Weeks. You may speak to any of our Parent Secretaries to find out which weeks need to be made up.

Please send me your child's NAME, AGE, CURRENT RANK, and BELT SIZE to speed up the test form process. Thank you!

*Ashton Ranch Middle School : May 4, 2023

*Kingswood Elementary : May 6, 2023

  *BASIC TESTING INFORMATION

    *Testing Fee : $12.00, NOT included in your class payment(s) and registration

    *Testing can be paid through the APP/Website by choosing "Test" when checking in online

    *Students must have perfect attendance in order to test. Please see a class secretary to find out if your student had absences to make up. 

    *There will be NO SPECTATORS/NO PARENT HELPERS on testing day

    *Testing day/night may run a little longer than normal. We thank you for your patience.

  *A SPARRING RELEASE FORM WILL NEED TO BE SIGNED AND TURNED IN TO THE FRONT DESK.

  *Open to students ranked green, blue, purple, orange, red, brown, and black belts

  *Sparring is safe, light-contact, controlled fighting, which is highly recommended for students advancing in ACTIVSTARS.  Students will learn how to use their techniques in actual self-defense and sports scenarios.  All sparring students are required to have sparring gear.
